The Role
Harwin are currently recruiting a permanent role of a Design Engineer to work on the design and development of new and existing products, from concept through to product launch.
This is an opportunity to work within a skilled team in New Product Design and Development, influencing the design and launch of new products to Harwin’s portfolio.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
The primary duty of the successful candidate would be to work within the Product Design team, contributing to the design and development of interconnect solutions, whilst meeting project deadlines and department KPI’s. The following points are examples of roles and duties within the team:
• Produce 3D CAD designs and technical drawings for manufacture and customers
• Provide technical support to sales staff
• Adhere to Global Engineering standards
• Be able to manage a cross functional team/DFMEA process to identify problems during new product development or when quality concerns arise
• Co-ordination of product activities to cross functional departments within the business
• Plan and manage daily tasks
• Check manufacturing drawings and customer information sheets for completeness and accuracy
• Aide the management of document and drawing updates for the business, keeping the Design workload within the targeted level.
• Uphold EN9100 standards by adhering to company procedures whilst seeking continuous improvement and implement techniques to improve the role and business.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
• Degree level qualification or equivalent in Mechanical / Electronic Engineering. Or suitable experience in industry
• Understanding and use of Creo Parametric or Solidworks software, with FEA experience
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word & Excel)
• Ability to follow instructions to a high degree
• Competent in working both independently and within a team
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Confident in making decisions
• An appreciation of standard quality procedures and engineering tolerancing
• Willingness to learn about production processes, design parameters and standardisation
